Atelier DATA converted a row of stables in rural Portugal into a summer retreat for a small family. The result is an open airy building, that stands up against the heat of a Portuguese summer.
The individual stables were removed, but the “horse path” the central passage between the stalls was kept, and forms a long corridor stretching from one end of the house to the other, this also acts as a wind tunnel, funnelling outside air through the building.
