Felt Mistletoe for Christmas

If you live in an area where mistletoe is a strange foreign plant people in the movies kiss under, or find that the real (or fake) mistletoe is way too expensive in the stores, how about making a real traditional Christmas by making your own mistletoe.

Homemade Muji Gingerbread Houses

In many Christian cultures, it is traditional to construct gingerbread houses during the Christmas season. It is a pastime that is not only delicious but it also gets the kids involved with Christmas preparations, teaching them co-operation, team work and the Christmas spirit.

Homemade Muji has kits that you and your kids can bake up so as to have your own little gingerbread Christmas village.

Coolest Ruler Ever

When I was at school I just had normal 30cm rulers, plain and straight, quite boring really. Granted I didn’t do anything that required a ruler as complicated as the Koala Versa Ruler.

Halloween Wine Bottles

One more Halloween craft before it’s officially too late. If you have some left over wine bottles that you can spare, why not try making a couple of Halloween Wine Bottle Jack-o-Lanterns. This tutorial can also be adapted to make Christmas decorations.

The design doesn’t have to be limited to Jack-o-Lanterns either, you can make Frankenstein’s Monster and ghosts using green spray paint and a glass frosting kit.

Make Your Own Amigurumi

Amigurumi is the Japanese of using crochet to make stuffed animals and shapes. Some examples are so tiny, and use embroidery floss and needle thin crochet hooks. Others can be over sized toys that rival anything won at a carnival.

This art has spread the world over and the word Amigurumi is now used to describe any sort of handmade crocheted soft toy.

Retro Candy Shop

Pärlans Stockholm

Places like Pärlans Konfektyr in Stockhom really warm my heart. It is a candy shop that makes, wraps and sells candy made from recipes from the 30′s and 40′s. The focus is on quality, not quantity and everything is made, wrapped and boxed by hand.

The ladies and Leyli from the video below dress in vintage costumes and totally look the part of  Rosie the Riveter.
