Accessories To Dye For

I love being able to give new life to old accessories, whether they are already in my wardrobe or something I picked up from the thrift shop. And now with the acid colours that are so popular lately, it’s really easy to get that stylish look with accessories dyed to a fashionable colour.

Rookie Mag has a great dye tutorial for those who have never used clothing dye before, which lays out step by step exactly what you need to do to get the right dye for your accessory.

Tiered Dessert Plate DIY

Once again Heather from Decor-ganize Crafts has come up with a great DIY to get a great look without breaking the bank. This time it’s for a tiered dessert plate just like the ones that cost an arm and a leg in out-of-the-way antique shops.

Heather’s dessert platter is made with stove burner covers, short pedestals and little round “feet” for the bottom tier. However you can make yours out of whatever you come across.

*You can find exactly how Heather transforms these ordinary bits and bobs into a tiered dessert plate on her website, Decor-ganize Crafts

Plastic Animal Hooks

This is  great way to get rid of those plastic animal that every child seems to collect. They might be gathered from all corners of your little darling’s world, but they all end up in the toy box.

The idea here is to cut the plastic toys, paint them and attach them to either bits of wood painted the same colour or to attach them directly to your wall where they can be used to hang hats and coats.

* Mike from Blue Velvet Chair has all sorts of ways to re-purpose discarded toys on her blog
