Super Simple Christmas Decorating

I have always been a fan of keeping holiday decorating simple, and this idea from Better Homes & Garden is as simple as they get.

Wrap some large cushions with wide ribbon so they resemble gifts, it’s dead simple and your cushions are already coordinated with your existing décor.

* You can find this and more brilliantly simple ideas from the Better Homes & Garden website

Blue Boy Baby Shower

If you have been asked to do a baby shower for a mother having a boy, the website “On To Baby” has a great idea for a baby blue and white gingham baby shower. With shades of blue in both the food and décor, the shower is a sweet celebration of the new life about to enter the world.

The dessert table was designed by Sara Fried of Fete Nashville and featured chocolate covered Oreos and pretzels, cupcakes, strawberries and meringues.

Mason Jar Themed Birthday

When someone turns 90, it’s a pretty special occasion and should be treated as such. That’s why when Gretchen Brittain of Three Little Monkeys Studio was asked to organise a themed party for a lady called Hattie, she decided to use a Mason Jar theme. The cookies are from Krista from Cookies with Character, a former Walt Disney Animator.

Themed Baby Gender Reveal Party

A gender reveal party is the perfect way to get rid of feeling like a heffalump. Kate Landers and her husband hosted a wonderful, “Make Way For Ducklings” themed party to reveal to friends and family the gender of their own bundle of joy, a boy. To keep the gender of her baby secret till the grand reveal at the end, Kate decorated the room in gender neutral colours, her larger pieces were all kept white with yellow accents throughout.

Despite some snafus, their custom duckling cake was eaten less than 2 hours before the party started by their pup Henry, everything worked out and a memorable time was had by all who attended.

Oscars Evening Party Theme

While speaking to one of my colleagues on Facebook the other day, we started talking about the Oscars on the 26th February 2012. It is such an exciting occasion, she suggested I do a post on an Oscar themed party, and I thought what a brilliant idea! So I got to scouring for ideas and found the best out there. Cyd from The Sweetest Occasion did this vintage-inspired Oscars party with old movie posters, root beer and lace ruffled table coverings.

You could certainly modernise the theme, with posters from the nominated movies, champagne and brighter coloured accessories, but as a starting off point, the idea is top-notch.
