Ying Gao and glass artist Michèle Lapointe were fascinated by the idea of carrying a ten gram shirt in a ten kilogram bag. So, by working together, they came up with the answer of putting a super light weight shirt made from organza in to a glass handbag. The glass handbag has a rounded contour in which the shirt is placed. Ying Gao is based in Montreal and is the only fashion designer included by the British magazine Wallpaper in its Canadian Top 40.
This transparent piece of work reflects on the nature of accessories and their content, while being an aesthetic and formal exploration of glass and textile.
