Volunteer for the High Line’s annual Spring Cutback:
Unlike most gardens, which are pruned at the beginning of winter, the space is designed to look good all four seasons, which is why the big trim is happening during the month of March.
Volunteers will work side by side with the High Line’s gardeners to clip more than 100,000 plants along the mile-long park.
If you want to sign up, you’ll be required to put in a minimum of two shifts between March 3 and 28 (Mondays and Wednesdays, 8–10:30am and noon–2pm). You’ll also need to attend a training session on February 10, 12 or 19. Head over to the High Line’s website to download a volunteer application.
