Atelier DATA converted a row of stables in rural Portugal into a summer retreat for a small family. The result is an open airy building, that stands up against the heat of a Portuguese summer.
In stark contrast to the hotel it is in, the Apero Bar & Restaurant was decorated with industrial finishes like cast aluminium wall lamps and reclaimed timber tables. The Ampersand Hotel on the other hand is a decadent, luxurious hotel on Harrington Road in the heart of London. Dexter Moren and Associates, the firm that redesigned the Apero Bar & Restaurant, created flexible zones throughout the space where people could have communal breakfasts or private dining.
Over a creek in North Carolina is the Bridge House, designed by Platt Architects. It straddles a small creek on natural rock pillars. The interiors are rustic and warm, with oversized furniture to help you through the harsh North Carolina winters. Platt Architects have been designing homes for more than 25 years, and specialise in mountain homes, the architectural firm was started by Alfred Platt and now includes his son, Parker Platt.
Mitchelton Winery in Richmond, Australia, produces a wide selection of warm region wine varieties like Shiraz, Chardonnay and Riesling. The vineyard has recently undergone renovations by Hecker Guthrie Interior Designers who recently re-designed the architecturally significant buildings. The Cellar Door and Function Rooms were the first to be re-invigorated, followed in time by the restaurant.

The Brow of the Hill house in Southern Australia features a curved exterior wall, a glass topped front wall and a sand pit. The architects, Fergus Scott Architects, decided to differ from the usual glass fronted home to a glass topped view facing home, that floods the house with light.
The new Actelion Business Center in Allschwil, Switzerland was designed by Herzog & De Meuron Architects to contrast the densely built-up surroundings. The business center is an open structure, consisting of beam like elements, stacked like the Jenga game. This stacking makes the view of the building change depending on which angle it is viewed from.
As a tribute to the selfless actions of Lady Godiva against her cruel husband’s taxes, Make Architects was asked to design a tribute monument. The project was part of 12 regional projects leading up to the 2012 Olympic Games. The monument includes chain mail hanging from the ceiling, stained glass windows, stainless steel clad walls and two glazed gable end walls.

The Gorki House just outside Moscow, Russia was designed for a young couple with a child. The simple brief for the house was only that it be a contemporary piece of architecture. The house is surrounded by pine trees and has beautiful views in three directions. The fourth direction has no view, so the architects decided to close that part of the house off.
The RDM Campus in the middle of Rotterdam is an architectural masterpiece. At the centre of the campus is a former machine hall Innovation Dock and a series of monumental scale industrial halls. Groosman Partners Architects have developed a system where they have doubled the campus’s area.
