Halloween Blood Building Blocks

Despite the title, this isn’t about some gory haunted hotel waiting for unsuspecting college students on Spring Break. It is actually an experiment that could change the way we build, or at least the way we look at building materials.

Family Home in Turnhout, Belgium

41b93cf8

Very rarely do you find a home that “turns it’s back”, literally, on almost every tradition in house building there is, but this one does. It’s a house designed by Belgian Architecture firm, dmvA Architecten. The house consists of a closed façade on the front street side view with a contrasting transparent façade on back garden view. The internal organization is characterized by the principle of open/closed areas. Service spaces are situated on the street side, while living and bedrooms are on the garden side. Characteristic to the floor plan is the aisle connecting front and back, referring to the typical Flemish alley.
