Ever since those iconic words were spoken by Ian Fleming’s James Bond, “shaken, not stirred”, the Martini has been a symbol of beauty, style and exclusivity. However Bombay Sapphire, the gin which inspired the Martini, holds a competition every year to redesign the Martini glass. I think 2006′s winners, Tomek Rygalik and Jorre van Ast, were the most innovative.

Their inverted Martini glass shows that they understood the relationship between the bowl, the stem and the base, and by understanding the different elements of the glass, they were able to completely break the rules.
