My Milk Toof

My Milk Toof is the story of two milk teeth that live together, one day they get a new friend and they name him Carrot because he is a Goldfish and looks like a carrot. It was created by Inhae Renee Lee, a Korean-American animator who now looks after the two milk teef characters.

Carved Book Landscapes

Multidisciplinary artist Guy Laramee has for the past 3 decades worked as a stage writer, director, composer, a fabricator of musical instruments, a singer, sculptor, painter and writer. Among his sculptural works are an incredible series of carved book landscapes and structures entitled Biblios and The Great Wall. The old books’ pages are carved into serene mountains, plateaus and prehistoric structures.

Vennesla Library, Norway

 

There is nothing like a well designed library to make you want to stay till closing time reading a good book. I love libraries like I love baked goods and the Vennesla Library is up there with a chocolate ganache covered chocolate chip brownie, delicious. It’s beautiful, light and the inside has all sorts of nooks and crannies where if you are smart enough, you can spend hours, whiling away the time.

The curved undulating ceiling of Vennesla Library is made of twenty-seven prefabricated, glue-laminated, timber “ribs” and was designed by Helen + Hard. Around the edges of the book shelves are comfortable reading niches and seating for studying.

Bodies of Water by Daniel P. Helmstetter

After losing his mother at sixteen and his father at twenty three, both to cancer, Daniel Patrick Helmstetter had an idea for a book to help children deal with death. The book tackles this difficult subject in ways that parents will feel comfortable, without religion to muddy the water. Daniel created a Kickstarter page to fund the printing and distribution of Bodies of Water, the realization of encounter with a snowflake while looking after his father during his illness. $25 dollars will get you one of the first hardcover pressings, hand numbered and signed by Daniel and Box Brown, $50 will get you two and so on and so forth.
