Scott Maitland, proprietor of Top Of The Hill Distillery, have just released an “Age Your Own Whiskey” kit featuring their 100% certified organic Carolina whiskey. The kit consists of two bottles of whiskey, a cask and stand with the required bung and tap as well as complete instructions on how to go about ageing your own whiskey.
If you live in an area where mistletoe is a strange foreign plant people in the movies kiss under, or find that the real (or fake) mistletoe is way too expensive in the stores, how about making a real traditional Christmas by making your own mistletoe.

In many Christian cultures, it is traditional to construct gingerbread houses during the Christmas season. It is a pastime that is not only delicious but it also gets the kids involved with Christmas preparations, teaching them co-operation, team work and the Christmas spirit.

When I was at school I just had normal 30cm rulers, plain and straight, quite boring really. Granted I didn’t do anything that required a ruler as complicated as the Koala Versa Ruler.
Sometimes it’s hard to find the right way to decorate your entryway. It has so much traffic so nothing too delicate can be placed there, but it still needs to look good. Portuguese blog, Gecko has a wonderful solution, how about painting the decorative bottom of an end table bellow a shelf.
This way you get the pretty storage space without the expense of buying a new table. And it takes less space too.

Recycling requires creativity and perseverance, and Cindy from Made 2 Style has both in spades. Using just the inner roll from toilet paper rolls, hot glue, a really inexpensive mirror an embroidery hoop and spray paint, she came up with this lovely piece of art.

One more Halloween craft before it’s officially too late. If you have some left over wine bottles that you can spare, why not try making a couple of Halloween Wine Bottle Jack-o-Lanterns. This tutorial can also be adapted to make Christmas decorations.
The design doesn’t have to be limited to Jack-o-Lanterns either, you can make Frankenstein’s Monster and ghosts using green spray paint and a glass frosting kit.

Paula Deen has managed to build an empire from her brand of home-style cooking, TV shows, merchandising and books. One aspect that I didn’t know about was her DIY section. She has some great ideas for bleached napkins that can be personalized for any occasion.
These 4th July napkins, could easily be made for Guy Fawkes or Christmas or for wedding favours with the wedding date and the bridal couple’s names on them. All they require are a steady confident hand, bleach, inexpensive napkins, a pencil and a toothpick.

Revamp your dinner table with these cool place mats that you can make at home with just a few items from the hardware store.
All you need are flat mosaic tiles, felt backing and glue and you are set for dinner. You can also make hot mats or trivets so your hot serving plates and dishes don’t ruin the surface of your dinner table.
