Debuted as part of a press kit at a recent event in Europe, this digital disposable camera made from cardboard is rumoured to be going on sale in IKEA stores soon. It uses two AA batteries and can store up to 40 images in the inbuilt memory. That memory can be accessed through the USB connection that pivots out from the corner of the camera.

If I told you that it was possible to make plates from leaves, I’m guessing you would get on the phone to call the men in white jackets to carry me off, but I’m not crazy, it’s true! (please step away from the phone). Verterra was born out of the simplest encounter, Michael Dwork was in India and saw a lady take a couple of leaves, soak them in water and press them into a crude looking waffle iron. After a few minutes to cool, she then proceeded to serve food on them. Now Michael can’t remember what he ate that day, but the idea of making plates from leaves stayed with him. The Verterra dinnerware range is the result of his journey that started on that day.
Before you rant and rave in the comments below at the fact that I’m putting disposable plates in the Eco section, hear me out. These beautiful plates are most definitely disposable, and the reason they are so eco friendly, is because of what they are made of. Japanese company Wasara have constructed these plates, bowls and tumblers from a mixture of reed, bamboo and bagasse pulp. Bagasse is a by product of sugar cane processing and production, and this is just another was of using this by product in a way that helps the environment.
