Global Village shelters are made from specially treated paper walls and are intended to be used in refugee situations where shelter is needed fast. The paper walls repel water and can last up to 12 months, depending on the surrounding conditions.
The Global village shelters can also be used when aid workers need to leave equipment behind for later use as the walls are made from paper, they only serve as a psychological deterrent, and no real barrier to theft or vandalism.
