The Gilded Hares Rope Vases

Michelle from the Gilded Hare has a great tutorial for us this week, she made vases from coiled rope glued layer over layer. The requirements are simple, just a length of rope, a glue gun and a steady hand and the vases can be completed in a day or so. The project is also easy enough to substitute, for example you could use hemp or brightly coloured nylon rope instead of the manila rope Michelle uses.

You can find the complete tutorial on The Gilded Hare. We would love to know what you come up with in the comments below.

Easy DIY Drum Light Shade

My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia blogger, Kristin, has an amazingly easy drum light shade tutorial for us today. She uses inexpensive, easily available supplies like embroidery hoops, hot glue and illustration board to make a design feature that will add an elegant touch to bedroom, dining room or lounge decor. I’ve even see drum light shades in classy bathrooms of high-end hotels.

Kristen’s tutorial is easy to follow and quick to do, so all you require is a short shopping trip away and the results are limited to your imagination and the existing decor of the room you are going to hang your drum light shade in.
