Ski Resort Themed Bar, Hudson Lodge

In the middle of bustling Manhattan, is the city’s first ski-themed bar, Hudson Bar. The 1,500 square foot bar, located in Hudson Hotel’s private park, and decorated to transport guests into a winter oasis with animal hide rugs, wooden skis and sleds.

The menu is also ski-inspired, featuring a Hot Chocolate Bar with toppings like crushed candy canes, chocolate pretzel dust, burnt marshmallow and gooey cookie dough. There are beverages created by Steve Olson such as hot buttered rum and Aztec hot chocolate.

The building itself is designed so that when you take a downward route through the rooms, you are led into the bedrooms, playrooms and the study, and the upward route to the public spaces.

A House That Fights Obesity

You know that things are bad when you have to build a house to help you keep fit. An apartment building in New York, called The Melody, was designed to help in the fight against obesity.

The walls are decorated with murals of dancing figures and jazz is pumped through the buildings speaker system to encourage people to get moving and exercising. It also has attractively decorated stairwells and slow elevators to help people decide to take the stairs instead of waiting for an elevator.

Dreamy Hotel Stays In New York

The Dream Hotel in New York might be one of the most intriguing building in that famous city. It’s facade is constructed from two layers of angled, holey, stainless steel. The top sheet looks like the 17th Street punched window display and the inner sheet has a regularly spaced pattern of holes. The outer layer also has Juliet balconies for each of the 316 guest rooms and at the bottom, flips up to form a portico over the hotel entrance.
