Olga Bielawska And Her Fish Scale Bowls

Olga Bielawska has developed a technique that produces a finish on her bowls exactly like fish scales. The porcelain bowls have a skin that is pleasant to touch and combines a shiny glazed finish with a matt unglazed finsh to produce an exterior that is unique to each bowl.

I love a well designed bowl, and if that bowl has a tactile finish as well, I am sure to keep that bowl well within reach.

Air Dried Porcelain Recipe

I did pottery classes when I was in High School, of course what I produced wasn’t worth keeping. I really enjoyed the classes, especially the smell and feel of the clay and slip, so when I saw this recipe for air-dried porcelain I was transported right back to high school. Megan Bayliss’s recipe for air-dried porcelain doesn’t need a kiln to complete the process of changing clay into a masterpiece.
