Oooh Water Printer!

I’ve got to let you know that this video had me mesmerised for the full 4:14 minutes. If you watch to the end, you will see a couple of kids get mesmerised by the falling water as well. This fountain (or water printer) is located in Osaka Station City. It’s Awesome!

Pencil Printer

The Pencil Printer looks like the end of printer ink cartridge woes for every office, ever. It’s a printer that uses pencils to print text, this might induce rampant yawns, but let me explain, the printer uses a pencil to print your documents, making the text erasable with the eraser that comes with the printer. Because of the printer bed’s curved shape, the eraser dust naturally falls of the page and does not interrupt the printer’s printing.

Shake It Like A Polaroid Picture!

Sophie - the portable printer for your Smart phone Tell me you’re not still singing the title in your head? Go on don’t be shy. We have had all sorts of innovations for the smart phone, like scanners, faster chargers and portable chargers, and now we have Sophie, a printer that fits over your smart phone like a cover, it prints pictures taken just like a Polaroid camera. The printer will also be able to include a QR code on the back of the picture linking it to the digital version online on Flickr or Picasa or to geo tagged map, like Google or Bing. Brilliant idea, methinks.

Canon’s PIXMA Printer Paint Sculptures

When Canon began assembling their campaign for the Canon PIXMA printers, they turned to creative studio Dentsu and photographer Linden Gledhill to create a series of paint sculptures using sound vibrations. He managed to create an amazing series of sculptures that look almost otherworldly, when I saw how the images were created in the video below, I was amazed and intrigued by the speeds the camera had to reach, as well as the scale of the actual droplets used to achieve the level of detail. By using simple tools and advanced technical equipment, they managed to get sculptures that illustrate just how amazing the resulting images produced by the Canon PIXMA printers are.

Stick POP!

With a title like that you probably think I’m talking about some kinda candy, but lets focus here people, we are all about art and design so that title is for a post about… a printer. Its a small, portable handheld printer that can take care of small amounts of printing, anywhere! I could see the smart wheels turning when I saw this, I’m sure everyone has been caught in a situation where that important document has been ruined beyond repair by inconveniently spilt coffee or you arrive at a government department and they ask for the one form you didn’t bring, all you would have to do is store all the files you would potentially need on your USB, then print out whatever you need, snappy hey?

Designers Jihun Kang, Youngho Lee, Jieun Lee & Changsu Lee came up with the concept, hopefully it will get popular enough to become mass produced…I can certainly see the usefulness. [Read more...]
