Right in the centre of Durban, Kwazulu Natal, is a rather unassuming building that has been taken over by an organisation with an extraordinary vision. From the outside, you get small hints of what is to come by the vegetables and herbs planted where there used to be flowers beside the road, but when you walk onto the roof, you are surprised by a fully functioning, self sustaining garden, complete with chess board, shaded entertainment space and solar powered water geysers.
The project was started to spread the word that rooftop gardens provide a holistic, healthy environment for all residents which would in turn attracts property investment and tourism and create opportunities for its citizens while always meeting their needs.
