If you live by the sea for any amount of time, you probably thought about learning to surf and if you aren’t chicken like me, you have probably at one time or another taken to the sea on a polyurethane or polystyrene surfboard. Surprisingly, the original surfboards carved in Hawaii, were made from local wood, like koa, so Capetonian surfboard company, Groundswell, aren’t that far off from the way surfboards were originally conceived. Pat has been making surfboards since 2007 and has listed Californian surfboard maker Jack Young’s book as a major motivation for starting this innovative company from his garage.
