Stockholm subway

Since the 1950′s, the Stockholm subway system has been developed as the “World’s Longest Art Exhibition“, covering the distance between 90 stations and featuring over 150 artists, the rough subterranean walls have been made to look like anything from alien space stations to the stuff of children’s dreams.

Slatted Trosa Summer House

In Trosa, Sweden, is a Summer house designed by WRB Architects that has some awe inspiring views. The House was built with external walls made of slats, so that the occupants could experience the outdoors while living their lives inside the house. Although it was built in the 60′s, the design has remained both modern and contemporary, with extensive insulating and the ingenious use of laths to control the amount of light that enters the habitable spaces.

Kebnekaise Mountain Pouf

The Kebnekaise Mountain, the highest mountain in Sweden, has inspired Swedish Little Red Stuga Design Studio to name a knitted pouf after it. The pouf allows every child that sits on it to become a mountaineer and conquer heights of 2104 meters in their imagination.

This amazing Swedish villa is spacious and light, with very traditional interiors. The rooms seem cozy despite the villa covering 450 square metres and including a main residence, garage, stables, a large side building and private offices.

Wingardh Mill House, Sweden

In Vastra Karup, Sweden, is the Mill House, the embodiment of the Swedish ritual of sauna and bathing. Mill House is a gorgeous little holiday retreat with a beautiful sauna. There’s also an adjacent pool for a cool dip after the dry or wet heat of the sauna to help wind down further.

Sweden Has A New Princess

After almost thirty years, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden has given birth to a baby girl, father Prince Daniel, let their subjects know via press conference at the Karolinska Hospital. The proud new father admitted that his feelings were all over the place but that both mother and child were doing well. Hundeheit Pet Storage Units

 

You know when you go to a store and they ask you to leave your parcels at a counter before you go in, they give you a little tag to retrieve your stuff before you leave? The way department stores used to have coat checks, well in Oslo, they have the same thing for your pet. There is apparently a real problem with pets left to wait outside stores by owners getting stolen that a grocery store has built these pet storage units.

For $10, you can “check” your precious pooch into the locker and shop with the comfort of knowing he or she will be waiting for you when you are done.

Gilt Window Frames on Swedish Housing

In most parts of the world, when you walk down the road past corporate housing, you don’t expect to see gilt window frames. You don’t expect to see gilt anything. But in Helsingborg, Sweden, that is exactly what you will see when you come upon the housing project designed for HSB Nordvästra Skåne.

The upper end housing is situated just north of Helsingbog and has generous apartments with a clear view onto the seaway (sound) between Sweden and Denmark, Öresund. Denmark is visible on the horizon.
