Titanic Centenary Shakes Up The Woodwork

On the centenary anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, the famous unsinkable ship built in Belfast, the writers for my favourite show, Downton Abbey, have written a 6 part series called Titanic. The 1997 movie has just been re-released too in 3D and you can also visit Titanic Belfast and walk the ill-fated decks yourself.

Downton Abbey Gets Silverware

One of my favourite new series is Downton Abbey, the story of an aristocratic family trying to evolve with the changing times after the heir to the estate is killed in the Titanic. I know the third series is coming out but I’ve just started watching the first so it’s new to me. Accidental deaths and thefts from the larder are rife in the first episode and I think the way each of the characters is portrayed by the actors is brilliant.

Starring established actors like Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Jim Carter and Brendan Coyle as well as rising stars like Rob-James Collier, Joanne Froggart, Sophie McShera and Thomas Barrow, the costume drama series managed to scoop up a Golden Globe for Best Mini-series for Television and an Emmy for writing and directing.
