Braided Headband Tutorial

Headbands are all in fashion at the moment, but it would be way too impractical to buy a headband for every single outfit I own, so I propose making your own, you can match it to your different outfits and customise it with anything you can think of.

Rainbow Heart Banner

Looking for something quick to make and put up before your love comes home from work? Try these Rainbow Hear banners, you can string it across your bed, over the door, on the wall by the “Welcome home” sign you have on the go already. All you need is a template, some rainbow coloured felt, a scissors and sewing thread to sew it all together and string it up.

Nothing to it, so I suggest if you haven’t started, you better get a move on. Hubby/ Wife will be coming home any minute now and dinner is burning.

Easy DIY Drum Light Shade

My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia blogger, Kristin, has an amazingly easy drum light shade tutorial for us today. She uses inexpensive, easily available supplies like embroidery hoops, hot glue and illustration board to make a design feature that will add an elegant touch to bedroom, dining room or lounge decor. I’ve even see drum light shades in classy bathrooms of high-end hotels.

Kristen’s tutorial is easy to follow and quick to do, so all you require is a short shopping trip away and the results are limited to your imagination and the existing decor of the room you are going to hang your drum light shade in.

Valentines Crayon Hearts Craft

Crayon crafts are huge right now, that’s why I’ve got another one for you. This time the craft is linked directly to Valentines Day, and couldn’t be easier or more fun for your kids to make for the whole class. Heather from Whipperberry made these crayon hearts using crayons from around the house, an inexpensive heart-shaped silicon baking mold, glitter, card stock and baker’s twine.

Imagine an entire class colouring in with crayon hearts….adorable. Thanks Heather!

Hijack Your Noisy Neighbours Bass

In college I had a housemate that refused to turn down his music. My knee-jerk response was to turn up my own music, but hijacking his bass and making his stereo pump out Backstreet Boys would have been sweeter and more embarrassing, for him.

Tutorial on how to hijack your noisy neighbours bass was found on Lifehacker

Crayon Monogram How To

I’ve seen a lot of examples of monograms on the internet, but the one that I think would be great for kids to try out would be the crayon monogram. It’s simple and looks real elegant when placed in a simple black frame against a white background. I found a great tutorial from Lisa at Rainy Tuesday Mornings.

Another great thing about this tutorial is that if you need a specific size letter, bigger or small than the letter templates she gives you, let Lisa know what size you need and she will send you the file to print out. [Read more...]
