Emogayu is the alias used by Yuri Fukuda, a ceramic artist and originally from Japan, but now residing and exhibiting in Brooklyn, New York. Her projects under Emogayu, range in medium from ceramics to a clothing line and to media contents design & developments, such as PC and mobile application interfaces and websites. But I decided to concentrate on her ceramics. These free form vases, some of which look like solidified liquid, have random organically shaped cut outs along the rim, with intricate design and typical Japanese simplicity. Their inspiration was taken from volcanoes and the lava from violent eruptions.
